Property & Spaces

  • The barn is an authentic and historic former dairy barn, and one of the main reasons we purchased Color Field Farm more than a decade ago. Restored by a prior owner with care, it has been thoughtfully cleaned and stabilized while preserving its warm, 120+ year-old character.

French doors at the front of the barn open toward the entry drive. When you step inside, you look down the full length of the space: a wide, cathedral-like central aisle flanked by two side areas defined by original wooden posts and beams.

At the far end of the barn is an attached back barn, accessed by 12’-wide stairs that lead up to a raised stage approximately 24” above the main floor. A wall of large windows spans the back of this space, flooding the barn with natural light and offering expansive views of open fields and big Maine sky.

To the right upon entering, a sliding barn door opens to a pea-stone courtyard surrounded by gardens, the original milkhouse, and a split-rail fence. This small courtyard is often used for cocktail hour and has supported acoustic music, outdoor bars, oyster stations, and food service connected to food trucks parked nearby.

In spring 2026, a second sliding barn door will be added on the left side of the barn, opening directly onto the lawn between the farmhouse and barn — the setting for our hilltop ceremonies — creating an even more seamless indoor-outdoor flow.

  • The farmhouse at Color Field Farm is a traditional center-stair, balloon-framed Cape built in 1906. It serves as a welcoming, home-like anchor for the wedding weekend and offers dedicated spaces for preparation, gathering, and (optionally) overnight stays.

    Wedding Weekend Access (Included)
The three-day wedding weekend package includes access to the covered front porch and foyer, which opens onto original farmhouse stairs leading to the second floor. At the top of the stairs is a central landing with access to three rooms and a full bathroom, all reserved for the exclusive use of the wedding party.

Two of the rooms are nearly identical mirror-image spaces, each furnished with comfortable seating, salon-style preparation stations, large mirrors, garment hooks, and gallery-style track lighting to support professional hair and makeup, along with lamps for softer, more intimate lighting.

A third, smaller room is also available and can be used as a private changing room or as a food and beverage station for the wedding party.

    Whole Farmhouse Rental (Optional)
If you opt to rent the entire farmhouse, this includes access to the first floor as well.

The first floor consists of several rooms arranged around the central stair, a residential kitchen and a bathroom. The rooms are set up as gallery spaces and the kitchen includes a sink, dishwasher, gas stove and oven, refrigerator, and a central farm-table island with wood top and stool seating. Two upholstered chairs offer quiet seating with views across the farm. A small 3/4 bath is located just off the kitchen.

From the kitchen, a side door opens directly onto the lawn between the farmhouse and barn. A second kitchen door, along with French doors from the central gallery room, leads to a large back deck perched above the hillside vineyard. The deck offers sweeping views across the property, with stairs that lead down to the lawn and the hilltop ceremony site.

Note that while the upstairs rooms and bathroom are exclusive to the wedding party, the downstairs rooms, including the kitchen and bathroom, are shared with the on-site manager as well as the property owners, when they are also on-site.

  • Your wedding weekend includes:
    • Exclusive use of the farm and grounds
    • Historic barn and courtyard areas
    • Outdoor ceremony locations in meadows and vineyard views
    • Use of a portion of the farmhouse for preparation
    • Curated tables, chairs, and lounge furnishings in the barn.

  • No— at this time, we do not offer overnight stays at the property.

  • Yes — municipal parking is available across Route 27 at the Edgecomb Eddy School with advance coordination. Additional parking can be arranged in the lower meadows. Our farmstead is on a hilltop, overlooking acres of meadows at the base of the hillside vineyard. We have a winding country lane that goes from the hilltop to the meadows below. Due to the elevation change, shuttles are recommended for most guests. Those needing assistance can be dropped off and picked up directly at the farmstead.

  • Color Field Farm does not have public restrooms or on-site wastewater treatment to support large events. For the wedding day, couples are required to rent portable restrooms for guest use. We recommend a minimum of two restrooms with lighting, with at least one ADA-accessible unit to accommodate all guests.

During the three-day wedding weekend, we provide access to a full bathroom on the second floor of the farmhouse for the exclusive use of the wedding party. If you opt to rent the entire farmhouse, an additional bathroom on the first floor is available. Note that this bathroom is shared with the on-site manager as well as the owners, when they are also at the property.

Due to septic limitations, access to farmhouse bathrooms is limited to the wedding party throughout the weekend celebration.

  • You can explore the entire farm property while you are here. We own 35 acres, with walking trails through the meadows and into the woods.

To access our lower meadows, we have an unpaved country lane that winds down the hill. This lane is shared with our neighbor. We ask that cars not park along the gravel drive or block access at any time.

Within the farmhouse, there is a private room on the second floor that is not accessible to wedding guests. This room is used as an office and retreat for the on-site manager, or the owners, when they are at the property assisting with the wedding coordination.

If you opt to rent the full farmhouse, you gain access to the downstairs gallery spaces, the kitchen, and the first floor bathroom. All of these spaces are shared by the on-site manager and owners.

The entire main floor of the barn is open for guest use. The lower level of the back barn is our workshop and is not accessible to guests.

Outside the barn, with access from the courtyard, is our milkhouse. The milkhouse is used for storage and is not accessible to guests.
